You’ll spend five days in breathtaking central Idaho, following as fine a group of experienced hounds and their guides as you’ll find in these Idaho mountains. North Central Idaho is a world renowned for large cougars, just look in the Boone and Crockett Record Book. When our toms reach maturity they will all either approach or meet the requirements for entry in the world book.
Cougar hunts will either be scheduled with a set date well ahead of time or on call. If you have a flexible schedule the on call mountain lion hunt is a great option, guaranteeing perfect weather and making your Idaho cougar hunt that much more exciting!
During your fully outfitted adventure you’ll be staying at the rustic and comfortable North Star Lodge where all modern amenities are available, all meals will be provided and you will be treated like a friend as soon as you wall through the door instead of just a customer.
Born into the family outfitting business, we have a lifetime of experience hunting mountain lions in Idaho. Before you ever arrive, we’ve been scouting for weeks and know just where the cougars are hanging. This eliminates the guess work and puts you right in the game from minute one!
Currently our mountain lion hunts are conducted in an exclusively guided 200 square mile area. One of the largest cougar areas in Idaho. Behind that are thousands of square miles of untamed Bitterroot wilderness that sees very little hunting pressure and this creates a large reservoir of lions that filter out into the front ranges year after year. We respect this great resource and as such will only take 6 mountain lion hunts in Idaho every year. This helps us ensure great lion hunting for years to come even though we could easily take more.

While scouting for deer on the ranch we caught a glimpse of this mountain lion out for an evening’s hunt. Rarely do you get to see a cougar in his day to day routine, but we were fortunate enough to watch this one for 20 minutes. We need to get this guy in the bag this winter as mountain lions can kill a deer once every three days and that’s too many in my book!
