As promised, lets talk hunting boots today.

We all know a hunters first line of defense are his feet so obviously hunting boots are of paramount importance.

There are a lot of good boots out there so I’ll spend less time on brands and more on different features I like.

My favorite sole, whether I’m hunting Alaska or hunting the west, is a bobbed sole.  It serves me well in flat, marshy ground after caribou or steep mountains after sheep or mule deer .

I also never get any less than 600 grams of thinsulate.  This number seems to be a happy medium for me whether I’m hunting Central Idaho Elk Hunts in September or moose in Alaska .  My feet never get sweaty and they stay warm temperatures are hovering around freezing.

I also like a boot with a neck that approaches your calf.  Hunting boots that don’t have sufficient height tend to let cheat grass and water in, thus having no place in a hunters world.  Last but not least, boots should be of good, solid leather construction, triple stitched if possible.
